Friday 29 September


7:30-9pm Light up the Gate Woodgrange Road, Forest Gate (E7 0QH)


Celebrate the launch of the Alleyways Festival with installations by local artists and residents and a lantern making workshop with artist Brian Hanlon and musical entertainment coordinated by local producer Chris Mashadi / Nux Recordings

Saturday 30 September


Noon-2pm Barbers Alley Open Day Barbers Alley, Plaistow (E13 9DS)

In collaboration with Plaistow South Big Local


Visit Plaistow South Big Local mini-market with stalls run by local people, see the PSBL ‘Greening Plaistow’ stall, swap seeds and tips, join in a mural design project by local arts collective Floating Artland and children’s activities run by Plaistow Library.

1- 4pm Art & Games Nelson Street, East Ham (E6 2RL)


Join us for fun and games (including giant chess) and help transform Nelson Street into a colourful pop-up art gallery.

2-4pm Beaconsfield Walk Festival Beaconsfield Walk, Beckton (E6 5NG)


Come and see groups from Beckton Community Centre including Newham Superchoir, multi-cultural dance groups and art classes.

3-5pm Heritage Tours Croombs Road, Custom House (E16 3RS)


Explore the neighbourhood with tours led by local residents of all ages, and learn how the area has changed through the years. Walks will begin every half-hour from the library. Visit the alleyway to see an art installation inspired by residents' stories.

7:30-9pm Outdoor Cinema Greenhill Estate, Manor Park (E12 6QN)


Join us for an evening of short international films in the newly reclaimed community garden space behind the fitness centre. Features will include the short film ‘At Your Convenience’ filmed and produced locally.

Sunday 1 October


1-2pm Afternoon Concert Vicarage Road, Stratford (E15 4HD)


Starting in the morning we will attempt to transform this unloved alleyway from a rubbish dump to a community gathering space in just one morning! Join us at 1 for a concert to celebrate the fruits of our efforts.

4-6pm Community Arts Celebration Dorset Road, Green Street (E7 8PU)


We close the festival weekend with an art installation in the alleyway next to the Dorset Road Community Garden, designed by artist Madhumita Bose in collaboration with local residents.
